NZMOA CAREER PROFILE
Jasper, a top sailor at world championship level, chose the marina industry because he loves working inside, outside and around the water.
And he has fallen on his feet because a cadetship at Westhaven or Auckland Central Marinas is one of the best raining opportunities young people in the industry can get. This is because the marinas owned by Auckland Council have taken the MAST Academy Apprenticeship in Marina Facilities a step further by providing young recruits with a two-year program where they gain experience in every aspect of marina operations, while also earning their New Zealand Certificate in Marina Facilities – Marina Operations through MAST Academy.

“We build on the traditional apprenticeship program and take it a step further, creating versatile, well prepared marina professionals who can jump into any part of the operation, whether admin, dockmaster, or maintenance,” says Westhaven’s David Marginet.
