Join NZMOA to be connected to your industry and enjoy these benefits:

Here are some of the membership benefits provided to both Associate and Full Members by the Marina Operators Association of NZ.

Networking

Every year the MOA executive arranges events and meetings so that full and associate members can network and discuss business. The annual general meeting and conference travels to the regions and is held over three days each year. The Open Forum and the Inter Marinas MRX challenge are parts of the social calendar. Since 2016 the Open Forum event usually held in Auckland expanded to two full days with one half days allocated to Boat Yard operations and the second to Marina Administration and operating software. Associate members benefit from opportunities during the year to spend quality time with the Full members, including providing sponsorship opportunities to various events during the membership year including initiatives as noted below.

Marketing

NZ MOA undertakes a number of marketing initiatives to promote its membership. All full members are given a complimentary listing on this marketing website www.nzmarinas.com. All associate members have links to their own websites. This site is promoted to the public by additional printed or boat shows advertisements directing them to the site.  Associate members are also provided a listing within the NZMOA.com website.

Annual Awards

The annual awards were introduced in 2017, with award categories developed to recognise success and outstanding achievement across the marina industry. The awards ceremony is held at a formal dinner during the annual general meeting and conference.

Biennial Salary Survey

This independently run biennial survey looks at all roles within a standard Marina operation. The results are available to members at a small fee to guide them with salary and wage rates within their facility.

NZ Marine Industry Association and ICOMIA Membership

NZ MOA has a guaranteed position on the NZMarine Executive, which allows MOA to have a voice within the wider Marine Industry. Currently NZMOA also has two members on the NZMarine Board of Management.

Human Resources

In 2016 NZMOA rolled out a suite of documents to assist members in their obligations to maintain good records for their part time and full time employees. The suite of documents was created by consultancy Wilde and Freeman who are available to support members on their use of the suite of documents.

Members Website & OneDrive (previously Skydrive)

Members gain access to a myriad of information from members’ services to contact details for their member peers. The members SkyDrive is an online resource were documents and files are shared with all members.

Further Education

The ITO Certificate in Marina Operations is available to all Marina Operators and allows staff to complete the certificate at little cost to the employer. These programmes are run by NZMarine ITO and are to level 3. Through our partnership with the Marina Industries Association of Australia we offer member rates for courses including: Introduction to Marinas, Intermediate Marina Management, Advanced Marina Management, Certified Marina Management, Boatyard Course, Marine Service Managers Course and a Straddle Lift Operators Course.

Third Party Insurance

This scheme allows members of NZ MOA to issue third party insurance across the counter to customers requiring third party cover for their vessel. The cover is transferable between any NZ MOA member facility.  Crombie Lockwood runs this valuable programme for all members.

Clean Marinas Campaign

These ever evolving programs allow members to participate in an industry owned program. The program allows Marinas to review their systems and procedures to best recognise their environmental responsibilities.

Stage one of the Clean Marina programme requires members to sign the pledge to complete the first phase within a 12 month period.

All NZMOA members agree to be bound by the organisation’s Code of Practice. To join, please contact our Secretary.
