New Zealand’s marina and boatyard sector has much to be proud of: it is a significant contributor to the economy, provides valuable employment, is a platform for one of the country’s favourite recreational past-times, and has achieved substantial environmental improvements over the decades.

Now the New Zealand Marina Operators Association (NZMOA) invites the country’s marina, boatyards and their suppliers to showcase their best work, with entries open for the NZMOA Marina of the Year Awards.

The programme not only seeks to recognise excellence, innovation and leadership across the sector, it also highlights the initiatives and individuals contributing and helping lift industry standards nationwide across operations, environmental care, innovation and customer experience.

The awards, introduced in 2017, celebrate achievements across the industry and highlight the teams and individuals who are raising standards in marina operations, environmental care, innovation and customer experience.

The format provides an opportunity for entrants to be assessed by a panel of independent experts and industry leaders, for their successes relative to their potential regardless of their size, location or resources and the categories are:

·      NZMOA Marina of the Year

·      NZMOA Boatyard of the Year

·      Outstanding Initiative Award

·      Outstanding Individual Contribution

The 2024 NZMOA Awards recognised a broad range of marinas and boatyards: Half Moon Bay Marina was named NZMOA Marina of the Year, while Bay of Islands Marina received the NZMOA Boatyard of the Year award. In the Best Initiative – Marina and Boatyard Members category, the winner was Waiheke Marina’s floating marina complex and carpark, a New Zealand first. Heron Construction won Best Initiative – Associate Members for its floating structures at Waiheke Marina, and the NZMOA Individual Contribution to the Community Award was presented to industry veteran Tom Warren.

Entries now open

Marinas, boatyards, industry suppliers and individuals from across New Zealand are invited to submit entries, with nominations open until 8 June 2026.

Celebrate your success!
